ITA Innova (Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón)

A human gaze. A 1,500-square-metre mural co-created with engineers and researchers.

An urban-scale tribute to the people behind technology, painted onto the towers of a university campus.

When ITA Innova — the Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón — decided to transform the lift towers of its building at the Río Ebro Campus of the University of Zaragoza, they didn't want a decorative gesture. They wanted a piece that would speak about who works inside: engineers, researchers, students, technicians. Bozeta took on the creative direction of a 1,500-square-metre intervention, designed and developed through co-creation workshops with the staff of ITA and students of the School of Engineering and Architecture. The result is two human figures acting as guardians of the campus, integrating symbolic elements of knowledge, sustainability, craftsmanship and forward vision — a tribute to people working in technology, painted at a scale visible from the A-2, one of the main arteries of the European road network.

A landmark at the edge of the European road network.

Located 150 metres from the A-2 motorway connecting Madrid and Barcelona, the mural is now seen daily by thousands of drivers and travellers crossing Aragón. Beyond its visibility, the piece consolidated something we keep practising at Bozeta: art at urban scale that emerges from a participatory process. The conversations with the ITA team and the engineering students shaped the figures, the colours and the meaning — and the final piece belongs to them as much as to us. The mural remains a landmark of the campus and a reference point for how science and art can share the same building.
