Object Book. The life of gallerist Ángel Sanagustín, translated into a piece of paper and memory.

A book that is also an object, a memory and an exhibition.

In collaboration with the Instituto de Estudios Altoaragoneses (IEA) and the Huesca City Council, Bozeta designed an object book paying tribute to the life of Ángel Sanagustín and his art gallery, S’Art — one of the most influential independent art spaces in Huesca during the second half of the twentieth century. The project began with research: more than three months gathering documents, photographs and testimonies covering Ángel’s 86 years of life and the 41 years his gallery was open. The result is a book that opens like a box, where the reader encounters images, smells, textures, objects and printed material — a multi-sensory experience designed to evoke the different dimensions of a life lived in service of art.

A tribute that travelled from a box to a public exhibition.

One year after the publication of the book, the project expanded into a tribute exhibition in Huesca, curated and designed by Bozeta. Many of the people who had appeared in Ángel’s life — friends, family, fellow artists — wanted to take part, contributing memories, works and pieces to the show. The object book has since become part of the permanent record of Aragonese cultural heritage, published by the Instituto de Estudios Altoaragoneses (ISBN 9788481273038). For Bozeta, it remains one of the most emotionally resonant projects we have undertaken — and the one that most directly shaped our way of working with cultural memory.
